New “Heels” Class
With Kristina Thacker
This class teaches you how to dance in heels, with fluid movements and empowering body language. Whether you’re a beginner or an have some dance experience your teacher Kristina will guide you through a fun and challenging routine. Discover the confidence that comes with mastering the art of dancing in heels. Boost fitness, strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. Whilst being fun dancing routines to your favourite commercial modern songs.
If you have no experience with heels and dancing in heels before you can take it step by step, heels can be chunky or flared heels, character shoes or even a Latin shoes can be a good start point (see our shop) , however we eventually recommend a lace up stiletto heel which supports the ankle and is made for dancing this may have a slightly open toe for proper technique with the floor and for stability. Typically, a shoe is 2 to 3 inches in height depending on your preference.
Clothing wise choose something that makes you feel good, is comfortable and flattering. Lycra leggings or tight lycra hotpants/shorts under a short lycra skirt are good choices, something figure hugging that still allows you to move freely and doesn’t restrict your movement.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you need a partner to join the class?
Well it is preferable to come along with a friend, but plenty of singles start dance classes and if we happen to have odd numbers then the teacher or assistant may be able to dance with you instead.
We are asked all the time “what do we wear?”
The answer is anything comfortable (smart/casual) that you can move in e.g. jeans and a top/shirt, will be fine. All we ask is that the ladies wear a shoe with a slight heel that will stay on their foot and that gentlemen wear normal outdoor shoes with as thin a sole as possible.
NB Trainers or flip flop sling-backs are NOT suitable as they restrict your movement of the foot. For those who want to invest in proper ballroom shoes we do sell shoes, so if interested please ask at reception during the day or ask your teacher for more information.
